The Paoli Inn, which sprang from the spirit of democracy and dispensed spirits like a ward heeler granting favors on Election Day, made this the liveliest stretch on the Main Line long before there was a Main Line—and even before there was a USA. Now, the rail hub that hugs Route 252 seeks to sharpen its profile as a destination, not a mere pass-through on the R5 line.
