CycleBar Opens in Main Street at Exton

The spin studio is set to open on Oct. 24.

When it comes to fitness trends, spin studios might well eclipse kale, thanks to high-tech, full-service spots like CycleBar, which opens Oct. 24 in Main Street at Exton. It’s Pennsylvania’s first look at a franchise that began in Massachusetts about a decade ago. The Exton location is part of a nationwide brand expansion, with the goal of having 100 studios up and running by the end of the year.

At CycleBar, instructors lead sessions for as many as 55 people to a specialized in-house soundtrack. Most classes last just under and hour, and heart rate, calories burned, resistance and speed are all recorded and sent to the cycler. A leaderboard is also displayed for those with a competitive spirit. Riders can expect to burn 500-700 calories a session. The studio also offers a less intense, yoga-inspired experience. Studio fees are per ride, with no flat membership.

“We’ll help you get set up on your bike and give you a great workout in a short period of time,” promises Allison Weller, manager of the Exton location.

CycleBar’s amenities include complimentary shoe loaners, water bottles, snacks, toiletry-stocked locker rooms, and showers. Initially, the studio will offer primarily morning and evening classes—and it’s a gadget-free zone, which means no phones on the floor. “It’s a de-stressor, a time to be inspired and not worry about what’s outside the doors,” Weller says.
