Best Place to Workout with Girlfriends 2016: Not everyone is looking for sweat-inducing, teeth-clenching workouts. Barre can also be calmer, elegant, and more focused on stretching and lengthening.

Best Workout, 2014: That’s “barre,” as in ballet barre—and it’s great for crafting long, lean muscles. Add cardio, do it for 60 minutes, then collapse, sweaty but smiling.

From 2013: Maybe it's the traditional ballet apparatus that makes the classes here seem a bit too cushy for the uninitiated. We challenge those folks to experience this hour-long, full-body workout, which combines the barre with traditional yoga and Pilates techniques — finished off with deep stretching. We're willing to bet that, by the end of the first class, you'll be dancing to a different tune.
