Best Weekly Specials 2017: Weekly specials show off the kitchen’s prowess. Ask your server about the special, paying attention to dishes with Southern flair and those featuring game meats. A juicy bison burger and smoked pork belly are at home beside layers of vegan eggplant lasagna.

Best Farm to Table Chef's Tasting 2016: This four-course chef’s tasting hosted by Roots owner Dan Cellucci is artfully presented on the first floor of this cozy converted townhome. Pair your favorite wines with sustainable dishes—and don't miss the rustic simplicity of the “hidden” garden patio.

Best Bloody Mary 2015: This popular brunch cocktail begins with a homemade tomato-based mix, intermingled with hints of locally sourced Hank’s Hot Sauce. From there, it’s a generous pour of Purist organic vodka. Garnishes include local favorite Righteous Felon Jerky, olives and celery. To really jumpstart your day, make it a Bloody Maria by swapping vodka for tequila.

Best BYOB 2014: At Roots’ new location, dinner is prepared three nights a week based on what’s available from CSA shares. Delicious, locally sourced dishes include a deviled-egg trio, chorizo meatballs, and smoked-trout carbonara.
