Best Hotel Reinvention 2018: This family-run hotel has transitioned from Old World elegance to modern with a nod to the past. Its partnership with Doubletree by Hilton combines the best of both worlds, while retaining already high culinary standards and a commitment to first-class service.

Best Chef 2018: Chris Calhoun: Impeccable attention to detail is Chris Calhoun’s calling card. The fish is overnighted to the kitchen and fileted with frequent washes in cold salted water, and the whole beef tenderloin is carved to order. Innovative flavor combinations— like lamb satay with chestnut honey, cashews and tangerine-curry sauce—surprise and delight.

Best Hotel Restaurant 2016: Choose from the Hunt Room’s fine dining, the Fox & Hounds’ elevated pub fare or the Sunset Grille’s seasonal outdoor dining and live music. With talented executive chef Chris Calhoun in charge, the Desmond has become a dining destination.

Best Good Neighbor 2014: During our recent horrid winter, the Desmond embodied the true meaning of hospitality by opening its doors to area locals without power and offering a warm place to enjoy complimentary coffee, free Wi-Fi, a big-screen TV and, most importantly, power to recharge cell phones and electronics.

Best Chef 2012: Chris Calhoun: Since his arrival at the Desmond’s Hunt Room late last year, this West Chester native has been shaking things up—and garnering praise in the process. His considerable talent is evident in a new-and-improved menu that focuses on simple, seasonal dishes.
