Boxcar began selling its Original Ale to local bars and restaurants in April 2011 and was officially announced in May 2011. Unlike many craft brewers, Boxcar focuses on “session” beers—lower-alcohol, mildly flavored brews with a wider appeal. Founded and run by cousins Jason Kohser and Jamie Robinson, Boxcar takes a family approach that extends to the local community, even recruiting volunteers several times a month to help bottle the latest batch of fresh beer.
