Swarthmore CO-OP to Host Oktoberfest

On Oct. 21, enjoy beer from Wrong Crowd Brewery, brats from Stryker Farm and cupcakes from Cupcakeology.

While many favor the pumpkin spice latte, fall is also beer season and Oktoberfest celebrations abound. Following last year’s successful turnout, Swarthmore CO-OP will host its second annual Oktoberfest on Oct. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. Anticipate beer samples and swaps, as well as local eats and live music by Danie Ocean.

When it comes to the beer, Wrong Crowd Brewery, which debuted in Bryn Mawr in July, will have a variety of seasonal samples. In the spirit of trick-or-treating, attendees may also bring a six-pack of their favorite beer to participate in the beer swap. Pick and choose six individual beers to try, or snag yourself an entire six pack from those on the beer swap table.

Of course it wouldn’t be an Oktoberfest without authentic German fare. Stryker Farm will serve its flavorful bratwursts made from hormone-free pork raised on non-GMO grains and grasses. The CO-OP will make local potatoes and grilled vegetebaltes to complete the feast. Dessert will also be plentiful, with scratch-made gourmet cupcakes from Cupcakeology.
