Aston Abbey Brewing Is Launching a Book Club Event

Imbibe in Delco brews while discussing good reads at this inaugural event.

If you enjoy discussing books as much as downing local brews, you’ll want to check out veteran-owned Aston Abbey Brewing Company’s first Books and Beer event on Aug. 9 from 7-9 p.m.

Self-proclaimed voracious reader and co-owner Sue McKenna came up with the idea while chatting with friends and patrons who are enthusiastic about the idea of blending book discussions with a pint of beer. McKenna “hopes to make the event a monthly gathering and is looking forward to the group compiling a list of books to ignite passionate verbal exchanges,” she says. Beer tie-ins will be offered once a schedule is established.

McKenna’s husband, Chuck, who is also co-owner and head brewer for the Delaware County brewery that opened in 2017, focuses on Belgian-style beers with Abbey-themed names like Anonymous Monk, King George and West In Peace Wit.

The Books and Beer event is free to attend and fellow book-lovers are encouraged to bring their own food or indulge from the on-site food truck.
