Entertainment

An eclectic combination of music, history tours, fire-truck rides, restaurants, circus performances, face painters, a live petting zoo and pony rides creates the ultimate day of fun, food and music.

The Baldwin School is this year’s sponsor for the Main Stage, with performances beginning at 9 a.m. Featured talent includes Wolf Performing Arts Center, Willson Vocal Academy, Bluebird and Blues Uprising. The Shipley Singers, the Baldwin B-Flats and the Agnes Irwin School Chorus showcase our younger talent.

  • Willson Vocal Academy is the premier center for vocal studies on the Main Line.  Their classes include musical theater, opera, jazz, country, pop and R&B. Each summer, the academy runs its popular Vocal Boot Camp.
  • Blues Uprising is a local three-piece electric band playing a mix of traditional blues, rock and Americana/roots music. The classic power-trio format (guitar, bass and drums) gives the music the streamlined and gritty edge it deserves. A typical set includes selections from genre leg ends such as Howlin’ Wolf, Albert King, T-Bone Walker and Bo Diddley, while also featuring tunes from more modern masters like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Expect to hear some original compositions from the band’s debut record, Too Many Days, as well. Blues Uprising’s energy, passion and commitment to the music, coupled with the timeless appeal of the blues, are sure to entertain any audience.
  • Local schools performing include the Agnes Irwin School Chorus, the Shipley School Singers and the Baldwin School’s B-Flats. The B-Flats are one of two a cappella groups at Baldwin. The group performs 20-25 gigs a year and travels throughout Europe. The Shipley Singers a cappella group is the premier vocal ensemble at the school. They perform cutting-edge songs featuring exciting arrangements of popular music and classical masterworks.
  • Give and Take Little Circus offers clowns, jugglers and aerial acrobatics.  The group will perform twice during the event.
  • Wolf Performing Arts Center has been dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through learning, experiencing and creating theater since 2005. Young performers of all abilities are invited to join in for a full performance experience.
  • Bluebird is a young, up-and-coming indie-rock band comprised of high-school students from the greater Philadelphia area. They’ll be playing their new single at Bryn Mawr Day.
  • At the heart of Bryn Mawr Day is the Bryn Mawr 100, institutions that have been in Bryn Mawr for at least 100 years.  Attendees can hop on a historical tour with Bobbie McElroy, secretary of the Lower Merion Historical Society, to learn about the town’s history. Tours are repeated throughout the morning and afternoon.
  • Kids can enjoy face painting, balloon artists, age-appropriate activities, a petting zoo and pony rides.
